A weekend course "Death and dying. How to take better care of your life" led by Maria Damsholt on 29-31 January, 2010.
Maria Damsholt is 64 years old. She is a certified clinical psychologist since 1997. With Lise Lotte Brooks she started the danish FPMT Center Tong-nyi Nying-je Ling in Copenhagen 1997. And she initiated the Conscious Living and Dying project in 1997 as well. This is a project for volunteers to take care of chronically ill persons, and terminally ill persons. Maria has been training the volunteers since 1997. She has been in touch with Buddhism for 19 years now. Always trying to integrate Western psychology and Buddhism.
Contents of the course:
1) Experiences from the Center in Copenhagen.
2) The death process, a Buddhist approach.
3) Total pain. (Dr. Cecily Saunders introduced the phrase Total Pain. She described it as having physical, emotional, social and spiritual components. Unless each of these components was tackled, pain relief was unlikely.)
4) Different religious aspects.
In English, with translation in Latvian.
